Are you feeling bored? To overcome boredom might be difficult but there are several ways to make a dull situation extremely exciting and entertaining. Find a way out by reading, drawing, watching television, and so on. In other words, make your dull moments productive by choosing the task you have not done since a long time. Plan a get together with friends when you are bored. If you are at home and feeling bored that doesn’t mean that you can’t relax. You can laugh and dance on your favorite songs. Here are some tips to eliminate boredom and get back to normal life.

First make out what you really want to do. Most often boredom masks the problem when you want to do a specific activity. There is something preventing you to do. For instance, you want to watch a program on television but power failure prevents you to do so. In such scenarios, first recognize the activity that you really want to do.   • The lack of direction causes boredom. Spend a little time in identifying your goals, desires or passions. Sometimes, when you get these things, you are motivated again.
  • Meet your friends or make some new friends. The lack of social energy also causes boredom. If you fail to make new friends in your area or can’t meet new people then chat with your old friends.
  • Check your to-do list and try to do one thing at least from that list before you find something funny. Be productive and this will kick your feelings.
  • Look forward to learn something new. May be you need what you need mental stimulation.
  • You may read a book or read a topic of your interest online.
  • Try to write a short story

What can be done?

  • Overcome distractions: Sometimes doing a low value task make you feel boredom, like watching television, internet searching etc. Distractions may take you into prolonged state of disinterest. To cope with this problem, turn off the TV set and move around till you find something occupying.
  • Fill schedule holes: Too much time is worse such as no time at all. It is very tough to adjust the boredom when you are not occupied. Some people get irritated during holiday time and like their normal busy schedule. It is thus better to fill the schedule holes to prevent boredom.
  • Be your own cheerleader: Sometimes you are bored due to temporary lack of confidence. Go back and count the happy moments and give high points to yourself so that you can regain your lost confidence and keep on moving.
  • Meditate: Meditate is the best solution to sort out extreme boredom.
  • Write a Journal: Just start writing a journal in the Word document. This will work similar to meditation. This makes you active.
